Quemado, NM, September 16, 2019 -- The Gila National Forest, Quemado Ranger District reports that potable water will not be available at the Quemado Lake campgrounds for the rest of the season.

The pump that chlorinates the potable water system at the Quemado Lake Recreation Area, which services Juniper and Pinyon Campgrounds broke over the weekend. District Ranger Emily Irwin advises that visitors bring their own water supply or be prepared to filter all drinking water.

Juniper and Pinyon Campgrounds are scheduled to close on September 30. The El Caso Campgrounds will remain open through October 31, weather permitting. Questions about the campgrounds can be directed to the Quemado Ranger District at 575-773-4578.
