a4i1650Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC) will be hosting the 4th Annual Southwest Print Fiesta!, a regional artisan print festival. Join MRAC in celebrating original prints, the artists who create them and the people who collect them. Start your art collection with affordable art!

Now in its fourth year, the Southwest Print Fiesta is a celebration of all things printed! Join us October 11-13, 2019 in beautiful downtown Silver City, NM to experience the awesome variety of work created by printmakers from all over New Mexico, as well Colorado, Texas and Arizona, and all points in between.

Saturday, October 12, 10 am - 5 pm, features an Artisan Marketplace on Market Street between the Big Ditch and Texas Street. Come down to buy some amazing art, and meet the artisans. Watch printmaking demonstrations and try free printmaking activities for all ages! Artisan booths will offer fine art prints, letterpress creations and more for sale.

Also on Saturday, October 12, we will tune up the steamroller (think steamroller without the steam) at 11 am, and every hour on the hour until 4 pm a large-scale hand-carved artist block will be inked and placed on Market Street. Once inked, a steamroller will roll over the blocks to create large artist prints. See it to believe it!

Five amazing artists will create the blocks: 1) Damian Charette, Art and Cultural Specialist, was raised on the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations in eastern Montana. 2) Sarah Parker currently teaches art in a small Northern New Mexico elementary school. She uses interactive art projects to begin conversations about community and our roles as individuals. 3) Local Elli Sorensen has been a working artist for over 35 years.  Her works have spanned the range from production to fine art one of a kind installations serving both commercial clients and private collectors. 4) Javier Napoles has a B.F.A in Painting from University of Texas at El Paso and is an Elementary Visual Art teacher. 5) Manda Clair Jost is a Silver City resident, WNMU Biology professor, and printmaker and for the past two years has helped organize public steamroller printing events in Silver City.

Be a part of this inspiring Silver City tradition and soak up the inky good vibes.
