October 27, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – “Immigration Law”

Local retired immigration attorney George Carr will be speaking on the topic of immigration law from the perspective of a legal services attorney. Carr will talk about the upcoming trial of Scott Warren in Arizona, which arose out of his activities with migrants in the Arizona deserts, the present status of the DACA program, and the treatment of applicants for asylum along the southern border.

“Immigration lawyers encounter the desire to come to the United States from people at all income levels. The benefits that are available to people who wish to come to this country vary depending on income. My experience has been with people without wealth,” Carr said.

Carr practiced law in Florida for 43 years. During that time, he worked with farm workers in the country with H2(a) visas, applicants for political asylum from Haiti, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, and individuals eligible for benefits under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
