On Saturday at Give Grand Grandly 2023, we will have clay so everyone can make "hands" for Penny Park. Thanks to funding from the Town of Silver City, we care working on restoration to take of some vandalism and to restore two removed adobe walls. Currently, we are "rescuing" tiles from those walls to re-use. We have also repurposed some picnic tables that were at Lion's Park and turned them into chess tables. These will be placed in Penny Park once our restoration work on the 40’ wall is finished. There will be a chess tournament to celebrate the installation of the tables. We are excited to be able to provide an outdoor space for our local chess enthusiasts.

Lion's Park will be fully complete in the next few weeks. Watch for word from us for the dedication of all three murals the Youth Mural Program has created at Main Street Plaza: Lion's Park, Oasis Coffee Shop, and public restroom building.

The mural at Little Toad is almost completed and we are very pleased that it contains a remembrance of Martyn and Alex...see if you can spot it! The mural says “Silver City, a cool place to be!” and spotlights that we are not just high desert. We have gotten great feedback from those that have watched it being created. It has been fun for folks to watch the progress in the Silver City webcam. https://livefromsilver.com/

We mentioned in our Fall Newsletter that we were working with the Forest Service to create two murals, one at the Aldo Leopold Vista and another at CP Anderson. Outdoor Equity provided us with a grant for those two murals. San Lorenzo, Cobre Schools, and YCC are participating in the design and implementation for the CP Anderson Vista site. Our 2023 Mural Camp will be held at the Aldo Leopold Vista site. Work will be designed and created by the campers and interns. We are hoping to attract youth from northern Grant County and Catron County to participate in this year’s camp. Applications will be online soon and will be available at Give Grandly.

We are moving forward with a mural on the Bayard Library. The design, completed by the 7th period Art class at Cobre High School, has just been approved.

Our plan is to have the Youth Conservation Corps work on the mural at WNMU's Child Development Center. Three of the four walls are almost completed, we have just been delayed by weather and unforeseen challenges experienced by the university at that building.

Finally, the Gene Daniels online auction was very well-received in December. We were able to raise more than $1,300 and get Gene's beautiful photographic work out to fans. We will keep you posted about future fundraisers. We have many beautiful artworks from local artists that have been bequeathed to us.

Hope to see you at Give Grandly...stop by any of our murals under construction!!
