LyndaSmithSeptember 24, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street –  “The Five Remembrances and the Nurturing and Caring Community”

“As humans, we face inevitable aging, illness, loss, and death,” said Lynda Aiman-Smith. “And in our current culture, many of us resist talking about and preparing for these inevitabilities – especially death. As Unitarian Universalists say, ‘Concerns shared are concerns eased.’”
During the program, Aiman-Smith will discuss developing a nurturing and caring community to help each other face the inevitability of death.

Lynda Aiman-Smith and her late partner Larry bought their house in Silver City in 2003, and remained periodic residents until they moved here full-time in 2010. She was a serial small business owner; then a mid-level manager in a Fortune 500 company; and finally, she was a tenured faculty member in the Poole College of Management in North Carolina State University.
From 2014-2021 Aiman-Smith served as Silver City Town Councilor for District 2, and was an active volunteer in local non-profit organizations. She loves living here in Silver City.

Please join us before the service for a drum circle commemorating one of the four solar festivals of the year. We’ll be meeting on the Fellowship patio at 9:30 am for a Fall Equinox celebration. All are welcome. Bring your drums, rattles, bells, and other percussion instruments. Or else you can use your chanting voice and your dancing moves. No formal program - just let nature take its course! Celebrate the balance of dark and light.

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

Childcare is available on second and fourth Sundays. Parents are invited to bring children 3-12 years old to play and participate in activities led by 10th grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge.

UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:
Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
