Gila National Forest seeks Forestry Technicians
Hiring events open door to opportunity

SILVER CITY, NM, Sept 26, 2023 – Opportunity is coming your way! Look out for several nation-wide Forest Service hiring events are occurring now through and October, with permanent seasonal and permanent full-time, career-ladder, entry-level Forestry Technician positions available across the Gila National Forest, across the Southwest, and across the nation.

Forestry Technicians accomplish the bulk of on-the-ground work, spending most of their time working outdoors. They serve in multiple program areas, such as recreation (developed recreation and trails), forestry, range, biology, hydrology, and others. Entry level positions have built-in career ladder potential that allows on the job learning to translate into higher-level and higher paid positions through experience. That’s only the beginning. A whole lifetime of career potential is laid out ahead.

The Forest Service is seeking to recruit, train, and retain Forestry Technicians with a shortage of applicants for these positions nationwide. Students whose availability is limited to seasonal work should watch for a Permanent Seasonal Forestry Careers hiring event scheduled to occur October 19 – 23, 2023. Those looking for year-round work should look out for a Forestry and Timber Careers hiring event scheduled for October 24 – November 1, 2023.
