Membership Applications Now Available for New Mexico Environment Department's Business Recognition Program

Santa Fe-- The New Mexico Environment Department is now accepting applications for the 2013 Green Zia Environmental Leadership Program (GZELP). Businesses and other organizations throughout New Mexico are encouraged to apply at one of our three membership levels.  The Green Zia Environmental Leadership Program publicly recognizes the outstanding environmental and sustainability achievements of New Mexico organizations and assists our members with individualized goal setting and assessments.
 
Green Zia Environmental Leadership Program offers many benefits for recognized members including; a press release announcement of the recognition status of the participating business, an official State of New Mexico Green Zia Recognition Certificate, permission to use the Green Zia logo on all business media, and a description of the environmental accomplishments of the participating business listed on the New Mexico Environment Department website.
 
In 2012, participating companies reported reductions of 3,060 pounds of hazardous waste; 573,374 pounds of solid waste; 340,000 gallons of water; 79 therms; and cost savings of $164,240 through implementation of best management and Pollution Prevention practices.
