Santa Fe – New Mexico would be one of only a few states to recognize Dental Therapists under a bill introduced by Rep. Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena) and others. Under House Bill 308 (HB 308,) New Mexicans would be able to receive expanded dental care and a new career path would be available to those looking to work in the dental industry.

“Access to dental care is a critical need for all of New Mexico but particularly in rural areas,” said Rep. Gail Armstrong. “This bill is result of over 10 years of hard, bipartisan work to ensure New Mexicans have this incredible opportunity.”

HB 308 received bipartisan support in both the Senate and the House of Representatives and now awaits the Governor’s signature.
