Santa Fe – House Republicans expressed gratitude for the thousands of New Mexicans, along with their organizations, who spoke up against House Bill 51. Even though the pro-abortion bill was soundly defeated in the Senate on Thursday, the measure shed light on the practice of late-term abortion that takes place in New Mexico. HB 51 resulted in thousands of calls into the Office of the Governor with 98% of those expressing opposition to the bill.

“We’re so grateful to our neighbors and the organizations who stood up for life during the legislative session,” said Rod Montoya (R-Farmington). “This issue brought together New Mexicans from every county and across the aisle and that is the part of HB 51 for which we’re actually grateful.”

Specifically, House Republicans wanted to thank these groups and organizations who did all the work and deserve all the credit for reaching out to New Mexicans in the fight against HB 51:

Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico
Right to Life Committee of New Mexico
New Mexico Alliance for Life
All legislators who voted against HB 51
