Events & Openings

Join the artists at Bisbee's Subway Gallery, newly located on Brewery Avenue below the Silver King Hotel, for their opening of the annual "Critter Show" on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm. The gallery has traditionally selected August to exhibit paintings, photos, and sculptures of dogs, cats, horses, birds, snakes, and other beasts. Painter Steve Bovee is well-known for his soulful dog portraits. Photographer Dick Hyman exhibits moving photos of horses and elephants. Also on view are sculptures and wall hangings of birds and various critters. Food, wine, beer, and soft drinks will provide you with an evening of fun. The Subway Gallery, established in 1986, is Bisbee's longest-running collective art gallery.

The exhibition "Color and Form" opens at the Tang Gallery on Saturday, August 12th and continue until October 12, 2017. The show features new abstract paintings by Mina Tang Kan, the Tang Gallery's founder, and ceramics by Seattle artist Alison Kan Grevstad. Alison Grevstad is a graphic designer whose clients include Nordstrom and the Seattle Aquarium. She began fashioning ceramic pieces ten years ago at Pottery Northwest. Her graphic design background gives her pieces a unique style. Mina Tang Kan is known to many in the Bisbee area as a printmaker and painter. She founded the Tang Gallery on Main Street in Bisbee in October, 2001, together with her student, the retired Colonel Cy Meyer. She graduated from Vassar College and has a Masters degree in Printmaking from California State University, Long Beach. She currently teaches Monoprint workshops at Cochise College and the Palos Verdes Art Center. TheTang Gallery is located at 32 Main Street, Bisbee, across from Cafe Roka. An opening reception for the artists will take place on Saturday, August 12 from 4 to 7 PM. All are cordially invited.

Belleza Gallery invites you to view new work by Atlanta-based artist Kim Chesney. Her work is mixed-media encaustic, combining an ancient technique with a Modern flair.
