Boat Ramp Now Open at Clayton Lake State Park

Clayton, NM – Due to recent significant rainfall in Colfax County, Clayton Lake State Park will open the boat ramp effective today, Friday, August 18th. Lake levels have increased by six feet.

"We're glad that anglers once again have access to the lake by boat," stated Christy Tafoya, State Parks Division Director. "Our goal is to ensure that New Mexicans can get out and fully enjoy their state parks for the remainder of the summer." Clayton Lake State Park is a no-wake lake.

While out on the lake, always make safety your priority, being prepared on the water could save your life and the lives of your loved ones. State law requires that you wear a lifejacket when on a canoe, kayak, or raft and that all children 12 years old and younger wear a lifejacket while on the deck of a moving vessel.

Clayton Lake State Park is an oasis in the rolling grasslands of northeastern New Mexico. Enjoy boating, picnicking, camping, fishing and hiking.
