The Albuquerque Tea Party (ATP) will host a Constitution Day Dinner on Saturday, September 16, at the Marriott Uptown Hotel, Louisiana Boulevard and I-40, from 5:30 to 9:30 P.M.

Tara Beam, a vocal and firm opponent of Common Core, is the event’s keynote speaker. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hillsdale College with a B.A. in Politics and a minor in Economics, she earned her master’s degree in Statesmanship also from Hillsdale. As an undergraduate, Tara served as a Constitution Research Assistant for Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn and interned for Senator Pete Domenici in Washington D.C. Upon her return home to New Mexico, she helped found the Estancia Valley Classical Academy in Moriarty, at which she taught history and civics. Currently, Tara is working to found a Hillsdale Barney Charter School in Albuquerque, hopefully to open in fall 2019.

Master of Ceremonies is the fabulous Tracie “TK” O’Geary, former Distinguished District Governor, Toastmasters. A popular speaker, Tracie is a motivator and sought-after consultant. Creator of “Make Your Vision Stick,” she has devised a system of strategies to help leaders focus and engage teams for excellence.

The Albuquerque Tea Party's annual dinner is a celebration of James Madison's mighty achievement -- the writing of the United States Constitution -- and of Thomas Jefferson's seminal Declaration of Independence. Madison's creation of a written constitution based on the doctrine of individual rights was the first of its kind, deservedly famous for its original and, theretofore unknown concept of government, which is in stark contrast to all those that preceded it. Years later, citizens petitioned the government to declare
September 17 the day on which the document was signed as Constitution Day.

The ATP's celebration of our Constitution is uniquely American -- a light-hearted evening of songs, raffles, silent and live auctions focusing on the freedom we still enjoy in this country and the enormous comfort and wealth that that freedom makes possible for an increasing number of individuals. In sum, as James Madison wrote in his prologue, the Constitution was created "to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. . ."
