HOBBS - Santa Fe County voters sent a clear message yesterday by rejecting a proposed gross receipts tax increase. The tax hike was defeated by a massive margin, with roughly 70% of voters opposed.

"I strongly commend the people of Santa Fe for rejecting yet another tax hike on hard working New Mexico families," Steve Pearce said. "Families are hurting in this state and the last thing they need is the government taking more money out of their pockets. This was another message that New Mexicans are going to stand for our values and not allow outside influences to harm our way of life. As governor, my mission will be to spur economic growth across the state so our families can prosper and keep more of their hard-earned money, not less."
