Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2017) Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement after Facebook announced plans to expand the Los Lunas Data Center a second time:

"New Mexico has long been a hub for technological advancement and development, but this billion-dollar plus investment will once again bring our state to the forefront. Since the first announcement was made in 2016 Facebook has twice decided to expand the size of their Data Center in Los Lunas. This is no mistake. Our State offers the environment, talent, and space needed for high-tech companies to succeed.

The continued expansion will keep 1,000 construction jobs working until at least 2023. I believe this massive project will make tech companies nationwide take notice of our great state. As a State, we must be ready to promote, recruit, and innovate to continue the development of high-tech infrastructure throughout New Mexico. Thank you to Facebook for their commitment to New Mexico, and to the dedicated workforce that has made the decision to expand here an easy one."

In October 2016, Facebook broke ground on the Los Lunas Data Center. In July 2017, Facebook announced their plans to double the size of the data center. This provided 1,000 construction jobs while under development through 2020.
