WHAT: The NM Economic Development Department (EDD) is teaming up with the NM Energy, Minerals and Natural Resource's Energy Conservation and Management Division (ECMD) and the USDA to help rural, small businesses and agricultural producers reduce their energy consumption and increase their profits.

A series of training workshops and customized energy site assessments by expert engineers are scheduled in each region of the state in rural locations. Workshops will not only educate participants on how to decrease their energy consumption and implement renewable energy sources, but will include how to tie in energy savings into their financial stability.

The workshops are free but registration is required. Additionally, a limited number of on-site assessments will be offered to businesses for free as well. Site assessments are conducted by an ECMD engineer.

The next energy workshop will be held in Las Vegas at the end of February. The Luna Community College SBDC, representatives from PNM and NMSU's Engineering Resource Network will be on board to participate in the event. The event will be hosted by the Luna Community College SBDC.
