Santa Fe: Today Dirk Norris, Executive Director of the New Mexico Film Foundation announced the 5th annual New Mexico Actors Showcase presented by the New Mexico Film Foundation.

This unique event centers on finalists in categories for age 17 and under, Beginner, Intermediate and Professional and Senior . All contestants will perform a scene live on stage and will be directed by Cat Pilafas, an established film actor and director who lives in Albuquerque. Judges at the event will include casting directors Jo Edna Boldin, Maura Dhu Studi, Aaron Leventman, and Marie McMaster. The event will be hosted by actor and producer Sheridan Johnson and comedian Isiah Yazzie, both of whom are part of Albuquerque's NM Inquisition.

The Actors showcase began by accepting video auditions from actors around the state. They had to include professional headshots and resumes. Industry professionals judged the submissions on quality of headshot and resume, video quality, lighting and sound and of course performance. Five actors from each of the five categories were selected to appear on stage.

"We are really excited to showcase the talent of NM actors for a fifth year. We expect local directors, producers, and talent agents to attend, looking for new talent and we hope the general public will come to see what actors go through in an audition. With the growing film industry in New Mexico, we know that we have the talent here to help make these films, both local and from out of state, a success," said Dirk Norris, New Mexico Film Foundation Executive Director.

This event is produced by Shaun R. Riley with Tim Nenninger of Timbojo Productions on camera, Teresa Jones as reader, Cat Pilafas as director and Barbara O'Dell handling sound with Goldie Tom providing hair and makeup.
