Today, the speaker, majority leader and minority leader of the New Mexico House of Representatives and outside counsel met pursuant to the Legislature's Anti-Harassment Policy and determined that the complaint filed by Ms. Laura Bonar against Representative Carl Trujillo should be investigated further. The complaint has been forwarded to an investigative subcommittee of the Interim Legislative Ethics Committee. As outlined in the policy, the subcommittee will begin its work and retain outside counsel to investigate the complaint immediately. The investigative subcommittee consists of two Democrat and two Republican members of the House of Representatives. The subcommittee members, outside counsel and staff are prohibited from disclosing any information relating to an ongoing investigation.
