Las Cruces, NM – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt reappointed New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte to the Local Government Advisory Committee. Witte's vice chairman appointment is from May 2018 to May 2020. Witte was first appointed by EPA Administrator Regina McCarthy in 2015.

Pruitt noted Witte's experience, perspective and outstanding service as reasons for the reappointment.

"It's an honor, not only to represent local government, but also the agriculture sector's point of view on this important committee and serve with outstanding leaders from across the nation," said Witte. "I look forward to the opportunity to have direct input to EPA leadership on the many important policies impacting our citizens, the environment and economy."

As a member of the LGAC, Witte represents state-appointed officials. The LGAC provides advice and recommendation to the EPA Administrator to assist in developing a stronger partnership with local governments. The committee also provides direction regarding building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs.
