Albuquerque, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas reminded New Mexicans that the deadline for them to file their claims in the false accounts consumer class action settlement against Wells Fargo has been extended to July 7, 2018. In 2016, Wells Fargo disclosed that it had identified approximately 3.5 million potentially fake bank and credit card accounts that it had opened, without authorization, in the names of its customers from January 2009 through September 2016. While the Office of the Attorney General has its own investigation open into the matter for violations of New Mexico law, Attorney General Balderas urges consumers to complete and submit their claim forms for their part of the $142 million class action settlement.
