Washington, DC — Last night, the House of Representatives announced it would delay consideration of a compromise immigration package until next week. Congressman Pearce believes the House is too close and has too much momentum to suddenly stop the process.

"Our immigration system is broken and our border is not secure – there is no doubt about it," said Pearce. "Congress must continue to work on legislation that will correct these problems. This is the closest the House has come in years to meaningful reform that will treat families with respect and dignity, begin securing our border, and provide DACA recipients with certainty. Is the proposed bill perfect? No. Rarely is a bill of this size perfect. However, it is a stepping stone. It is a bill that does take positive action towards a secure border and an immigration system based on fairness and respect for all. Congress cannot stop now, we must return next week and finish what we have started."
