Albuquerque, NM – Supreme Court Chief Justice Judith Nakamura and State Auditor Wayne Johnson along with Sen. James White and Rep. Damon Ely will hold a news conference Friday to announce changes in the adult guardianship system to protect thousands of the most vulnerable New Mexicans.
Among the new requirements, guardians and conservators will be subject to audits by the State Auditor’s Office to help prevent fraud or mismanagement of the assets of the elderly or others who are incapacitated and unable to manage their personal affairs.
Second Judicial District Court Judges Shannon Bacon and Nancy Franchini also will participate in the news conference.
