Washington, DC -- After weeks of damaging flood waters continue to rise in New Mexico, Congressman Pearce provides an update on the actions taken to provide relief and support for affected communities.

"I am proud of the San Antonio, Soccorro, and surrounding communities who have worked together to help during this challenging time. A letter has been sent to the Governor concerning the increasing devastation and a declaration of disaster. Leadership of Socorro County Emergency Management, the Socorro County Commissioner, and all the entities involved have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

"The State of New Mexico Homeland Security, Emergency Management, and the Red Cross were on the scene yesterday, offering relief for those in need. It is important that roads and disaster areas are thoroughly taken care of to avoid flooding on Highway 380. My office is working with the county on providing water to be delivered throughout the community. I am proud of the efforts put forth by the residents who have come to the aid of their community, while maintaining a positive outlook on this situation."
