White Sands Missile Range Notification

  • Traffic updates are posted on the NMDOT traffic advisory web-site at http://nmroads.com and can be retrieved through our automated system at 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269 from any line.
  • White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) has posted an alert for Sunday June 22, 2018 for US 70. The roadblock is scheduled to be blocked at 10:40 pm for approximately 1 hour and should be lifted at 11:40 pm. This block will be located at Red Block (top of St. Augustine's pass) Mile Marker 164 and Yellow Block (White Sands National Monument) Mile Marker 200. The Las Cruces Gate, Owen Road, & Nike Ave will be affected by this block.
  • White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) has posted an alert for Tuesday June 24, 2018. Highway 380 is scheduled to be blocked at 7:20 am for approximately 2 hours and should be lifted at 9:20 am. This block will affect Hwy380 in the northern portion of the range at Gold Block (mile marker 3) and Silver Block (mile marker 49). Be advised and aware all blocks are subject to change without notice. Should these times change this office will provide additional information as needed.

Interstates:

I-10, Mile Marker 96 westbound, Deming (Akela)

The New Mexico Department of Transportation will have maintainers on the roadway for bridge and roadway repairs. Traffic will encounter lane closures on the westbound passing (left) lane. Speed limits will be reduced to 55 mph, closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Construction hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and is expected to be completed by August 2018.

I-25, Mile Marker 154 to 157.839, Lemitar CN 1100660

Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) is continuing with bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction on Interstate 25 in Socorro Co. Traffic is being diverted from southbound driving lanes to northbound driving lanes to begin the next phase of the project. A 12' width restriction will be in effect throughout the project. Hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by winter 2018.

I-10, Mile Marker 2.5 to 22, Lordsburg

MWI, Inc. (Contractor) will continue installation of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Traffic can expect intermittent lane closures with median and shoulder work in the area from mile post 6 to 9. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2018.

I-10 Business Loop, Deming

MWI, Inc. (Contractor) will continue installation of the lighting project along Pine Street to exit 85 ramp. Traffic can expect intermittent lane closures and shoulder work in the area mile post .84 to .86. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2018.

US Roadways:

US 70/N Main St. at Camino Del Rex, Las Cruces

Morrow Enterprises, Inc. (Contractor) will begin signal light and drainage work along the northbound shoulder of N. Main St. at Camino Del Rex. Traffic may encounter a lane drop and shoulder work in the area. Hours of operation will be from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

US 70 at Roadrunner Pkwy mile marker 151, Las Cruces

Renegade Construction LLC (Contractor) will begin reconstruction of the existing access along Roadrunner Pkwy and the westbound frontage road. Traffic may encounter a lane closures and shoulder work in the area. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Construction is expected to be completed by August 2018.

State Roadways:

NM 188 Valley Drive/ NM 28 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces

AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is currently performing roadway reconstruction, utility replacements and lighting/signalization improvements on Valley Drive. Currently the active zone of construction is on Valley Drive from Picacho to Amador. Traffic is currently on the northbound lanes as the southbound lanes are closed for construction. Starting on July 16th, traffic will no longer be able to cross Valley drive using Hadley. Hadley is closed to allow the installation of underground utilities; closure is expected to last one week. Construction will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 PM, 5 days a week.

NM 90, Mile Marker 0 to 22.6 , Lordsburg

Dustrol, Inc. (Contractor) will be beginning roadway reconstruction with "Hot in Place Recycling". An 11' width restriction will be in effect. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations. Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. Construction is scheduled to be completed by August 2018.

NM 15 "Pinos Altos", Mile Marker 0 to 1.21, Silver CityCN1100810

TLC Construction (Contractor) will be reconstructing the roadway, installing curb and gutter, sidewalk and bike lanes. NM 15 from HWY 180 to the 32nd street interchange will have one-way traffic only. Pine Road is closed to through traffic at Pine/PA Road intersection while the contractor is reconstructing the intersection. Detours will be in place and traffic is asked to reduce speed and use caution seek an alternate route if possible. Contractor's hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Construction is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2019

NM 136" Pete V Domenici Hwy", Mile Marker 0.448 to 9.168, Santa Teresa E100081,82,83

FNF Construction, INC. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, roadway rehabilitation, bridge rehabilitation, signalization & lighting along NM 136 the Pete V Domenici Intl. Hwy. Traffic will encounter lane closures as well as detours with an 11' width restriction in effect throughout the project. Northbound and southbound traffic will be on the northbound lanes with single lanes in both directions divided by temporary concrete wall barrier. They will remain in this configuration until the next phase change in July. Contractor's hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

NM 498 "Racetrack Drive" Mile Marker 0.600 to 0.900, Sunland Park CN E100140

Hasse Contracting Co., Inc. (Contractor) will continue with bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction. NM 498 will be closed from Doniphan Drive to Futurity Drive; detour is in place on Sunland Park Drive. The Contractor's hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Construction is scheduled to be completed by winter 2018.

NM 273 "McNutt Road" Mile Marker 0 - 3, Sunland Park

Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, signalization & lighting along NM 273 "McNutt Rd". Traffic is being diverted from southbound driving lanes to northbound driving lanes with a single lane of travel in each direction. Motorists are asked to reduce speed and follow all temporary construction signing. The contractor's hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.

Chip Sealing Operations:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing "Chip Sealing" with Brooming and Fog Sealing operations in Sierra Co. Speed limit will be reduced, traffic will encounter no center stripe and there will be loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.

Roadways affected will be:

  • NM 187 "EL Camino Real" from mile post 24 to 36.4, Caballo
  • NM 152 "Black Range" from mile post 31.5 to 66, Kingston to Caballo

Special Event

Filming is expected on US 70/W Picacho Ave from Motel to 17th Intermittent lane closure should be expected on July 21st from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm and on July 23rd & 24th from 10:00 am till 7:00 pm Filming is expected on W Hadley and N Valley Drive. Intermittent lane closures should be expected on July 24th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a possibility of filming on July 25 from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. July 29 from 8:30 am till 12:30 pm filming is expected on Frontage Road 1031 from milepost 132 to 127. Camera car on I-10 westbound driving lane from mile post 132 to 127.

Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces:

Arroyo Road

From Red Hawk Golf Road to Sonoma Ranch Blvd will be closed to through traffic. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed and follow detours around the construction zone.

Brownlee Avenue

From Second Street to Third Street will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Church Street

From Bowman Avenue to Griggs Street will have one lane closed to traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.


Fourth Street

From Picacho Avenue to W Hadley Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Harrelson Street

From Union Avenue to W Conway Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Las Cruces Avenue

From Church Street to Water Street will closed to through traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Second Street

From Picacho Avenue to W Hadley Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

Solarridge Drive

From Mars Avenue to Columbia Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution.

S Telshor Blvd

From Terrace Drive to Huntington Drive will have the outside lane closed to through traffic. Access to residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed through the construction zone and should proceed with caution.

Water Street

From Bowman Avenue to Griggs Street will have the west lane closured to traffic. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.

El Paso Projects – Go 10/Border West Expressway
