Users are No Longer urged to Boil Water Prior to Drinking

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Drinking Water Bureau is confirming that the San Antonio MDWCA has met the requirements to lift the “boil water advisory” that was issued on July 17, 2018.

San Antonio MDWCA was required to issue the advisory after severe flooding caused a major water line break and a loss of water system pressure at the system. The advisory only applied to users served by the San Antonio MDWCA and did not extend to any other communities.

The NMED’s Drinking Water Bureau provided compliance oversight and technical support to the San Antonio MDWCA. Subsequent samples collected from the water system were negative for bacteriological contamination. The San Antonio MDWCA will be required to maintain a regular monitoring schedule to test the distribution system for the presence of total coliform and E. coli.
