Ten County Elected Officials Retire from the Board

DEMING, NM – New Mexico Counties (NMC) recognized ten departing county elected officials for their outstanding leadership and dedication to NMC and the citizens of New Mexico at the NMC Board of Directors meeting in Deming on Friday, October 12, 2018. The Board members honored for their service include:

Catron County Assessor Susan Griffin, Cibola County Probate Judge Corrine Padilla, Colfax County Assessor Linda Gallegos, De Baca County Commissioner Becky Harris, Doña Ana County Sheriff Enrique “Kiki” Vigil, Grant County Commissioner Gabriel Ramos, McKinley County Commissioner and National Association of Counties (NACo) Western Interstate Region (WIR) Board Representative Carol Bowman-Muskett, Mora County Commissioner and Past President Paula Garcia, Otero County Commissioner, Past President, and NACo WIR Board Representative Susan FloresTorrance County Assessor Betty Cabber.

“It is with gratitude and appreciation that NMC bids farewell to these outstanding leaders and honors them for their public service and representation on the NMC Board of Directors,” said Steve Kopelman, NMC Executive Director. “These elected officials truly deserve to be recognized and commended for their dedication and hard work on behalf of their counties and constituents.” Members of the NMC Board of Directors meet six times annually and attend numerous legislative hearings, public meetings, and set policy direction for NMC, which represents all 33 New Mexico counties.

The New Mexico Counties is a non-profit, nonpartisan association representing New Mexico’s 33 counties since 1936. Its mission is to strengthen New Mexico counties’ ability to govern their own affairs and to improve the well-being and quality of life of their constituents.
