Users are No Longer urged to Boil Water Prior to Drinking

SANTA FE, N.M. – The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Drinking Water Bureau is confirming that the Aspendale Camp has met the requirements to lift the “boil water advisory” that was issued on September 28, 2018.

Aspendale Camp was required to issue the advisory after bacteriological contamination (E. coli) was confirmed in drinking water at the Aspendale Camp. The advisory only applied to users served by the Aspendale Camp and did not extend to any of the other surrounding water Aspendale Camps or communities. 

The NMED’s Drinking Water Bureau provided compliance oversight and technical support to the Aspendale Camp. Subsequent samples collected from the water Aspendale Camp were negative for bacteriological contamination.  The Aspendale Camp will be required to complete an assessment of the water Aspendale Camp and maintain a regular monitoring schedule to test the distribution Aspendale Camp for the presence of total coliform and E. coli.  For more facts about New Mexico’s Boil Water Advisories in English and Spanish please visit here and for more information on today’s announcement please call NMED’s Drinking Water Bureau Southern Area Supervisor, Brandi Garcia at 575-915-1113.

El Departamento de Medio Ambiente confirma que se cancela el “Aviso de Hervir el Agua” para Aspendale Camp en el condado de Otero

Ya no se recomienda a los usuarios hervir el agua antes de tomarla

SANTA FE, N.M. – La Oficina de Agua Potable del Departamento de Medio Ambiente de Nuevo México (NMED, por sus siglas en inglés) confirma que Aspendale Camp ha cumplido con los requisitos para que se cancele el “Aviso de Hervir el Agua” que se emitió el 28 de septiembre de 2018.

Se exigió a Aspendale Camp emitir el aviso después de que se confirmara la presencia de contaminación bacteriológica (E. coli) en el agua potable de Aspendale Camp. El aviso solo correspondía a los usuarios abastecidos por Aspendale Camp y no se extendió a otros sistemas de distribución de agua ni comunidades circundantes.

La Oficina de Agua Potable de NMED proporcionó supervisión de cumplimiento y apoyo técnico a Aspendale Camp. Las muestras posteriores recogidas del sistema de distribución de agua dieron resultados negativos para contaminación bacteriológica. Se exigirá que Aspendale Camp realice una evaluación del sistema de agua y un monitoreo periódico para analizar muestras del sistema de distribución con el fin de detectar la presencia de bacterias coliformes totales y de E. coli.
