Eddy County, NM - On November 1, 2018 at about 7:54 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on State Road 128 around mile post 4 east of Loving. 

The initial investigation indicated a 2017 Ford pickup driven by Jason Carmona (26) of Texas was traveling north on County Road 793 when he approached the intersection at State Road 128. For unknown reasons, Carmona failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by a 2012 Peterbilt Commercial Motor Vehicle that was traveling westbound on State Road 128. Carmona succumbed to his injuries at the Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, NM and was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The name of the driver driving the Peterbilt will not be released due to him not facing any charges.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash.  Seatbelts appear to have been used properly. No other additional information is currently available.
