Cummins Expanding Operations and Creating New Jobs

Clovis, N.M. - Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced that Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) a global power leader that has a natural gas engine upfit and assembly facility in Clovis, NM is expanding and creating 10 new high-wage manufacturing jobs. The expansion is being supported by New Mexico's closing fund, LEDA, and a City of Clovis Economic Incentive Board (EIB) grant.

"When we lower taxes, cut through bureaucratic red tape and strengthen our incentives, companies choose New Mexico," said Governor Susana Martinez. "Cummins is staying and growing in New Mexico. They are providing fantastic job opportunities to the community and I congratulate them on their continued success."

Cummins has had operations in Clovis for more than forty years. Cummins is investing $2.5 million in its Clovis operations to add a new remanufacturing disassembly, cleaning and inspection line and new equipment as well as expanding its warehouse by approximately 22,000 square feet. Construction began in October of 2018 and will be fully operational in June 2019.

"We're thrilled that Cummins continues to expand in Clovis," said Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Matt Geisel. "This company makes a tremendous economic impact to the Clovis region and we're proud to see them expanding and creating more jobs for New Mexicans."

"The City of Clovis and Clovis Industrial Development (CIDC) commend Cummins for their continued commitment to Clovis and New Mexico," said Executive Director of CIDC Chase Gentry.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department will invest up to $150,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds in the expansion. The City of Clovis will act as the fiscal agent for the LEDA award. LEDA helps recruit new businesses to our state while helping those already here grow and thrive. The City of Clovis will provide $290,000 for the expansion through an EIB Job Grant.

Under the leadership of Governor Martinez, New Mexico has bolstered economic development tools, cut taxes and fees 61 times, and rolled back unnecessary regulations and red tape to create a business-friendly environment in New Mexico. Since 2011, the governor has prioritized and strengthened JTIP and LEDA - two crucial economic development tools. These tools strengthen our workforce and build the business infrastructure. They expand New Mexico's competitiveness to recruit job creators to the state. They support the job-creating expansions of existing New Mexican companies. As a result of these tools, reforms, and investments, New Mexico continues to recruit global and national companies like Facebook, Keter Plastic, Safelite, Netflix and others, while helping homegrown businesses like Wholesome Valley Farms, RiskSense, Ideum and others grow and thrive as well.
