Valley Cold Storage & Transportation Will Create Up To 10 New Jobs, Invest More Than $16.5 million

Santa Teresa, N.M. - Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced that Valley Cold Storage & Transportation will expand operations and create up to 10 new jobs in three years, bringing their total headcount in Doña Ana County to 24. The company also plans to invest more than $16.5 million in expanding their Santa Teresa Industrial Park facility. This expansion is being supported by New Mexico's closing fund, LEDA. 

"I'm so proud to see another homegrown business leader expand in New Mexico," said Governor Susana Martinez. "Since 2011, we have worked hard to make New Mexico a great place to for our homegrown companies to thrive and create jobs in our communities - today, we're seeing those efforts pay off."

"By expanding their Santa Teresa facility and creating more quality jobs, Valley Cold Storage is expanding their impact on the local economy and helping New Mexicans find good jobs."

Valley Cold Storage and Transportation provides state-of-the-art refrigeration and transportation services to the retail, food service, food distribution, and agriculture industries of Southern New Mexico, Northern Mexico and West Texas. The company has a current headcount of 15 employees with an average wage of $31,000. 

New Mexico will invest up to $150,000 in Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) funds in the expansion. The City of Anthony will act as the fiscal agent for the LEDA award. LEDA helps recruit new businesses to our state while helping those already here grow and thrive.

"This is a testament to the fact that our economic development tools, such as LEDA & JTIP, not only help with business attractions, but also support the growth of existing New Mexico companies." 

Since 2011, Governor Martinez has bolstered economic development tools, cut taxes and fees 61 times, and rolled back unnecessary regulations and red tape to create a business-friendly environment in New Mexico. Under Governor Martinez, New Mexico has invested nearly $130 million in infrastructure improvements in Santa Teresa to attract businesses to the area, including roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, flood control, water & wastewater infrastructure, roads, an airport fire station, and a port of entry visitor center, among many others. As a result of these tools, reforms, and investments, New Mexico continues to recruit global and national companies like CN Wire, CSI, Admiral Cable, Stampede Meat and others while helping homegrown businesses like Wholesome Valley Farms, RiskSense, Ideum and others grow and thrive as well.
