(Albuquerque, NM) – A crew of four PNM employees left this afternoon to aid in the delivery of vital supplies to around 10 residents who are stranded in an area west of Madrid. Two journeymen from the PNM Communications and Relay department, their craft supervisor, and a chief mechanic are headed up to the area to provide help. Intense snowfall in the area has left residents unable to leave their homes to replenish food, water, and medical supplies. 

PNM will be working closely with Santa Fe County officials and first responders, using the utilities’ snowcat to deliver food and water to those who are stranded. The snowcat will allow the crew and first responders to navigate the remote, rocky terrain and reach areas that other vehicles may not be able to access.

“PNM has been a disaster relief partner with us for as long as I can remember,” said Martin Vigil, emergency manager for Santa Fe County. “We have worked together in other emergency situations and it’s during times like this where our strong relationship pays enormous dividends, and allows us to provide help to people in need.”

The crew will deliver supplies on Friday, Jan. 4 and continue relief efforts on Saturday, Jan. 5 if needed.
