Torrance County, NM - On January 19, 2019 at around 10:11 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a double fatal, single vehicle crash on Interstate 40 westbound near mile post 214 west of Clines Corners.

The initial investigation shows a 2006 Ford F-250 truck hauling a 36-foot Rockwood fifth wheel was travelling west on Interstate 40. The F-250 was in the passing lane passing a commercial motor vehicle, for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the truck and rolled. The driver, Duane George (64) and his passenger, Patricia George (61), both of Elk River, Minnesota sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Duane George and Patricia George were pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly utilized. No additional information is available at this time.
