Albuquerque, NM: Tickets are now on sale for the season’s most entertaining afternoon celebrating New Mexico’s homegrown film acting talent. The New Mexico Film Foundation (NMFF) in partnership with UNM Continuing Education Digital Arts program presents the 2019 New Mexico Actors Showcase. This event revolves around an acting competition, designed to demonstrate the collection of acting talent that exists in New Mexico.

This unique event centers on finalists in the categories of Age 17 and under, Beginner, Intermediate, Professional and Senior. All contestants will perform a scene live on stage and will be directed by Carla Sports Garcia, an established Actor, Director and Screenwriter. The event will be MC’d by Actor Showcase Alums Melissa Chambers and Sarah Minnich. The on-stage reader is Merritt Glover, Tim Nenninger of Timbojo Productions is the camera operator and the showcase is produced by Shaun R. Riley.

Judges at the event are casting director Jo Edna Bolden a two time Emmy Awards nominee, casting director Kathryn Brinks, screenwriter, actor and director Maura Dhu Studi and aclaimed director Janet Davidson.

 “We are really excited to showcase the talent of NM actors for our 6th year.  We expect directors and producers to attend, looking for new talent and we hope the general public will come to see what actors go through in an audition. With the growing film industry in New Mexico, we know that we have the talent here to help make these films, both locally and from out of state, a success,”  said Dirk Norris, New Mexico Film Foundation Executive Director. “We are thrilled to be holding this event at the UNM Continuing Education Auditorium this year.”

“Partnering with the New Mexico Film Foundation to present the 2019 New Mexico Actors Showcase `aligns with the UNM Continuing Education mission. We will have the occasion to experience the film industry talent here in our community, as well as the occasion to redesign our educational opportunities for that new talent to grow. We are the place with the tools for tomorrow today,” says Marth Becktell, UNM CE Digital Arts Program.
