The Ironworks Fire in Los Chavez, NM is now estimated at 139 acres. The Valencia County Fire Department reports that evacuations have been lifted and Highway 47 is open. Firefighters are continuing to mop up hot spots and reinforce containment lines. Resources will be released as fire behavior moderates. Full containment is not expected until at least Sunday (03/10).

The fire started March 7, 2019 on the west side of the Rio Grande on private land. High winds then pushed the fire to the east side of the river. At least two homes were lost along with at least 7 outbuildings and 6 recreational vehicles. The cause is under investigation.
