SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday announced the confirmation of three appointments to the boards of regents for New Mexico Highlands University and Northern New Mexico College.

In an executive message to the state Senate, the governor submitted to the Rules Committee the following nominees:

Leveo V. Sanchez has served on the New Mexico Highlands University board of regents for ten years, the majority of the time serving as chairman. During his tenure he has overseen the selection of a new university president and successfully removed the school from probationary status. Sanchez’s distinguished business career in both the private and public sectors includes service with the Peace Corps and U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity.

Michael Martin is a rancher who served previously on the Northern board of regents during which time he was both vice chairman and chairman. He has been chairman of the El Rito Ditch Commission, chief of the El Rito Fire Department and a member of the board of trustees at the then-Española Hospital.  

Tomas Rodriguez is a sophomore student athlete majoring in education and a Santa Fe native.
