Santa Fe – House Republican Leader Jim Townsend (R-Artesia) issued the following statement regarding the Secretary of State’s decision denying the petition to overturn anti 2nd amendment law.

“The Secretary of State has a duty to the people of this state on matters regarding petitions. It is incredibly unfortunate that politics has played into this decision. I have heard from people all over the state, both Democrat and Republican, who are outraged by the passage and signing of Senate Bill 8. We are fully prepared to take the actions necessary, including legal action, in order to protect the Constitutional rights of all New Mexicans.”
