NM 188 “Valley Drive”, Las Cruces, NM

Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office (NMDOT) has posted an updated alert as of Wednesday March 21, 2019:

AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is currently performing roadway reconstruction, utility replacements and lighting/signalization improvements on Valley Drive and Avenida de Mesilla. Currently the (2) active zones of construction are on Valley Drive from Picacho to Amador and on Avenida de Mesilla from Valley Drive to Hickory. The contractor will begin a seven (7) day work schedule with extended work hours in order to expedite the completion of the project to early 2020.

Valley Drive between Picacho and Amador, traffic is currently pushed into the southbound lanes as the northbound lanes are closed for construction. The anticipated closure of E Hadley is scheduled for April 1; this closure is estimated to last at least four weeks. Van Patten, Brownlee, McFee and Hayner will be closed intermittently at Valley for multiple utility installations. Valley Drive is reduced to one lane in each direction at Avenida de Mesilla.

Avenida de Mesilla (NM 28), all traffic is currently pushed into the westbound lanes to allow complete reconstruction on eastbound lanes. Starting March 21, lanes will be rerouted into the eastbound lanes so construction can begin on the westbound side.

Traffic on Hickory will be pushed into the northbound lanes to allow construction of the southbound lanes starting March 21.

Picacho (US 70) the eastbound right thru lane will remain closed at Valley; eastbound right thru lane will reopen by March 28.
