Santa Fe County, NM - On March 20, 2019 at about 10:15 a.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 25 around mile post 277, near Santa Fe.

The initial investigation indicated that a Ford Expedition occupied by five individuals was traveling north on Interstate 25 towing a Dodge Pickup on a flatbed trailer.  For reasons still under investigation the Expedition appears to have lost control, overcorrected and then rolled.

A middle row passenger in the Expedition, Zenaida Lopez (68) of Kansas City, KS was ejected and suffered fatal injuries, she was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  The driver and other occupants of the Expedition were treated for varying types of injuries.  One of whom remains in critical condition.

During the crash, the trailer became detached from the Expedition and impacted the front of a Mitsubishi. That driver was uninjured.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and seatbelts were not properly used.  This crash is still under investigation with no additional information currently available.
