A semi tractor-trailer rollover occurred on I-10 near MM 129 at about 12:44 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 21, 2019. According to the New Mexico State Police, a father and daughter were towing a Jeep behind their U-Haul truck in the right lane, when the truck blew a tire causing it to slow down. A semi, for unknown reasons, which was traveling behind the towed Jeep, struck the Jeep, launching it into the U-Haul truck. The father and daughter were able to come to a safe stop off the roadway. Both were uninjured, a NMSP officer said.

After colliding with the Jeep, the semi went into the median and rolled. Both the eastbound and westbound lanes were closed and traffic was routed onto the frontage road. Both lanes were reopened at 7:44 p.m. The semi’s driver, Jose Para of California, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Para was charged with careless driving according to NMSP. Alcohol was not a contributing factor to the crash and seat belts appear to have been employed.
