4th Annual Rawhide Days Celebrating Wild West History, Family Fun in Tucumcari, NM

Tucumcari, NM – April 24, 2019 – Known as the location for filming the television series “Rawhide,” as well as for its rich history in the Wild West, Tucumcari, New Mexico is the place to be to celebrate history, heritage, and family fun this May. Running May 3–4, the 4th Annual Rawhide Days will feature live music, chuck wagons, celebrity appearances by family members of “Rawhide” cast members, contests, and a rodeo competition, among a variety of festive events. 

“Tucumcari has a unique history and we’re honored to be home to the filming of ‘Rawhide,’” said Tucumcari Mayor Ruth Ann Litchfield. “This celebration is an incredible event, transforming our town into an Old West town for the duration of Rawhide Days and celebrating our heritage. Attendees have the chance to see what life was like in our town in the past, as well as to experience the fun and excitement of cowboy life. Rawhide Days is a favorite among those fascinated with history, Route 66, and the Wild West, and our events delight those of all ages.” 

In addition to the Famous Longhorn Cattle Drive and Horse Parade along Historic Route 66 and the beloved Camp Fire Cook Off, events will include a Jamboree Talent Show, a meet and greet with the sons and daughters of the legends from the television series “Rawhide,” wagon and pony rides, live music, mechanical bulls, gunfights, chuck wagons, games for children, a petting zoo, food and vendors. Returning for the second year are special events, including the ranch rodeo and the horseshoe-pitching contest. 

“In addition to a weekend full of fun and excitement, our musical lineup is second to none, featuring award-winning western artists, as well as local favorites,” added Litchfield. “The atmosphere, music, and events will combine to make you feel like you’re in the Old West all weekend long.” 

Attendees can enjoy musical performances by Tucumcari Crossroads Band, Randy Huston, Mike Moutoux, Limited Edition Band, Steven Blea, Coby Carter Band, Lendy Borden & The Bakersfield Twang, and Will Banister & the Modern Day Ramblers.
