Eddy County-On May 10, 2019 at about 5:32 a.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a single vehicle fatal rollover crash on Campbell Road, south of US 62/180, and east of Carlsbad, NM.
The Initial investigation indicated a 2004 Ford Expedition, driven by Cesar Ramirez (47) of Hobbs, NM was traveling south on Campbell Road when the Ford approached a curve in the roadway. For unknown reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled multiple times. The driver Cesar Ramirez, and a 36-year-old male passenger were ejected. Mr. Ramirez sustained fatal injuries and he was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of Medical Investigator. The 36-year-old passenger sustained unknown injuries and he was transported to a local hospital. There were also two other passengers in the Ford, a 30-year-old male and a 23-year-old male. The 30-year old male and 23-year-old male both sustained unknown injuries, and both were transported to a local hospital.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have not been properly utilized. No additional information is available.
