SANTA FE, N.M. -- The New Mexico State Film Office Director Todd Christensen announced today that the feature “Sierra Sisters The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure,” produced by Spanish Broom Productions in association with Dream Catcher Productions, LLC, will begin principal photography mid-June through the end of July in Albuquerque, Los Lunas and Zia Pueblo.

The independent feature is directed by Josh Relic and Executive Producer Marshall DeBerry. The film will employ 25 New Mexico crew members, 4 New Mexico actors and 15 New Mexico background talent.

“This is another great example of how a small independent film discovered that New Mexico has the locations, the crews and the economic incentives to help them succeed,” said Christensen. “New Mexico’s improved film incentives became law July 1, and we are seeing more and more interest as a result.”

Produced by Kathleen Swenson (“Caged,” “Sierra Sisters” and “The Legend of Red Hand’s Treasure”), Celeste Lee (“Sierra Sisters and The Legend of Red Hand’s Treasure”) and Jessica Jones.

“Sierra Sisters The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure” stars Kathleen Swenson (Caged), Celeste Lee (Back to Billy), James Blackburn (The Lone Ranger) and Samuel Barber (The Bracero’s Bible).

The feature follows treasure hunting sisters Hera and Athena as they embark on a journey to find the legendary treasure of Blackbeard the pirate. Along the way they encounter shadowy figures and mystical relics. The sisters begin to believe that they aren’t alone in trying to find the treasure. They find they have to use their wits and brawn to outwit and outmaneuver their murderous rivals. For more information contact: Jessica.Jones@dcpllcnm.com.
