colby wilson(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) — Today, the Boys & Girls Clubs of New Mexico announced that Colby Wilson has been selected as its new President and CEO, following a national search. Wilson will assume the new role on July 29.  Prior to assuming this role, Wilson served as the “Chief Encouragement Officer” for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lawrence, Kansas. During his 18-year Boys & Girls Club career, he has held senior level positions throughout the United States.

“It’s my privilege and honor to be the new CEO for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico. I am a true believer in the Boys & Girls Clubs mission and could not be more excited about the opportunity to come to Albuquerque and apply what I’ve learned over my past 18 years in the movement” said Colby Wilson, new President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico. “I look forward to meeting you, learning from you, and partnering with you to advance our mission. Together we will build a strong culture, advocate for our cause, serve more youth, and ultimately have a greater impact on our members and the community”.

Wilson takes over the helm from interim CEO Pamela Weese Powell and long-term CEO Tim Sheahan.

“Colby is a proven leader with a business vision and the ability to bring people together. He recognizes how the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico should play a critical role in the very communities in which we raise our children and the importance of creating an environment of success for kids during out-of-school hours,” said Ben Wolz, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico chairman. “Colby’s experience leading other Boys & Girls Clubs in the country is exactly what this organization needs as it enters its next chapter of providing more opportunities for at-risk children to flourish in safe places where they can learn and grow.”

Wilson’s career highlights include the completion of a $5,000,000 capital campaign leading to the opening of “The Center for Great Futures” in August 2018 to serve middle school and high school youth; increased annual operating budget from 1.7 million in 2011 to 4.1 million in 2019; responsible for 15 sites that serve 1,500 youth on a daily basis.

In addition to his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, Wilson also earned a master’s in sports and exercise leadership from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA.

Wilson has a daughter Sidney, 8, and a son Blake, 12, who have been members of Boys & Girls Clubs since they were old enough to attend. His wife Mandy is special education teacher and has dedicated her career to helping the vulnerable youth.
