Lea County, NM - On July 11, 2019 at about 7:00 a.m. the New Mexico State Police along with Lea County Sheriff’s Office, Jal Police Department and area first responders were called to New Mexico State Road 128 around mile post 57 near Jal for a vehicle collision involving a crew cab pickup truck and a semi-tractor trailer.

State Police uniform officers and the New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit are on scene actively investigating this crash.  Preliminary details are limited however there are multiple fatalities as a result of the crash.  As the investigation continues, we will be able to provide more details. 

State Road 128 remains closed in both directions from mile post 55-59.  East bound traffic is being diverted onto Willis Road and west bound traffic is being diverted onto Dollar Hide Road.  No further information is currently available.  Follow us on Twitter @NMStatePolice for the latest information.
