(Photo courtesy NMDA)(Albuquerque, New Mexico) – With plenty of brews and wines, there won’t be a shortage of local flavor at the 2019 New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque.

For the fifth year, the New Mexico Department of Agriculture is hosting Reds, Whites and Brews Happy Hours during the state fair Sept. 5 to Sept. 15. Happy hours will be offered from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Agriculture Building courtyard, located west of the Manuel Lujan building as follows:

·Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7

·Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14

Various New Mexico brews, wines and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

By spending $5 or more on New Mexico wine or beer, you’ll be part of the first-ever Elevate New Mexico Agriculture $5 at a Time campaign. NMDA challenges New Mexico households to spend $5, or increase their spending by at least $5 per week, on New Mexico agriculture products year-round.

“We hope people take advantage of experiencing our state’s tasty products while elevating New Mexico agriculture $5 at a time,” said New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte. “We are happy to continue the collaboration with the New Mexico State Fair, New Mexico Wine and the New Mexico Brewers Guild to bring fairgoers a taste of our state’s high quality beers and wines.”

The New Mexico Beef Council will feature beef hors d’oeuvres, paired with beer and wine during the Red, Whites and Brews Happy Hours on Sept. 13 and 14.

NMDA will also host the Battle of the Salsas Saturday, Sept. 7 and will collaborate with Expo New Mexico on the New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge Monday, Sept. 9. The Country Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through the duration of the fair, offering various New Mexico products for purchase.
