Who has the best chile? Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has correctly proclaimed New Mexico chile as the best in the world.

Who has the best green chile in New Mexico?  In order to crown the best in our state, The New Mexico Chile Association created the First Annual Great New Mexico Chile Taste-Off! On September 21, chile growers from Hatch, Las Cruces, Deming, Chimayo, Corrales, Lemitar, Arrey, Salem, Garfield, Farmington, Peña Blanca and Tucumcari will gather to see who will rightfully lay claim to the best hot green chile, mild green chile, hot red chile and mild red chile.

We will have a juried competition and a people’s choice award. The public is welcomed to taste and judge the participants from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. While the juried taste-off will take place from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Winners will be crowned at 6:00 p.m. 

The family friendly event will also include food, music, beer and wine, dancing, horse rides, the Roasting of the 12 ft Red and Green Chiles and red and green fireworks.
