In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area.

- Traffic updates are posted on the NMDOT traffic advisory web-site at http://nmroads.com and can be retrieved through our automated system at 511 in New Mexico or 1-800-432-4269 from any line.
- White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) has posted two alerts for Monday October 7, 2019. US 70 is scheduled to be blocked at 4:25 A.M. and should last approximately one hour. This block will be located at Blue Block (2 miles east of the access road - Mile Marker 172) and at Brown Block (located at the Mile Marker 192). San Augustin Pass and LC Gate are NOT affected. Nike Ave will not be affected for this block. The second block will begin at 8:10 A.M. and should last approximately one hour. This block will be located at Red Block (top of ST. Augustin Pass /mile marker 164) and Yellow Block (White Sands National Monument /mile marker 200). The Las Cruces Gate, Owen Road and Nike Ave will also be affected by this block.
Interstates:
I-10, Mile Marker 91.7 to 116.0, Deming
Mountain States Construction Co., INC. (Contractor) will continue roadway rehabilitation along Interstate 10. Multiple lane closures will be in effect on both the westbound and eastbound lanes with an 11’ width restriction. Hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.
I-10, Mile Marker 129 to 144, Las Cruces, NIGHTIME PAVEMENT PRESERVATION
Braiser Asphalt (Contractor) will continue with the milling and repaving of the top layer of asphalt along I-10. Lane closures will be in effect on both the eastbound and westbound lanes with a 12’ width restriction. Hours of operation will be from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am, Sunday through Saturday. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.
I-25, Mile Marker 0 to 7, Las Cruces
Bixby Electric (Contractor) will continue installation of fiber for the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Lane closures and shoulder work will be in effect on both the northbound and southbound lanes. Hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by November 2019.
I-10, Mile Marker 139, Las Cruces
Valley Fence (Contractor) is currently finalizing the guardrail replacement in Dona Ana County at milepost 139. All lanes are open; construction is expected to be completed by fall 2019.
US Roadways:
US 70, Mile Marker 150, Las Cruces
Hasse Contracting Co. Inc. (Contractor) will begin bridge and roadway rehabilitation. Multiple lane closures will be in effect on both the westbound and eastbound lanes with a 12’ width restriction. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, daily, including weekend work. Construction is expected to be completed by February 2020.
State Roadways:
NM 320 “Thorpe Road”, Mile Marker 1, Dona Ana
The New Mexico Department of Transportation will have employees and equipment on NM 320 “Thorpe Road” under the I-25 interchange at Dona Ana. Shoulder work will be in place as needed for painting of the bridge. Construction is expected to be completed by October 31, 2019.
NM 188 Valley Drive/ NM 28 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces
AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is currently performing roadway reconstruction, utility replacements and lighting/signalization improvements on Valley Drive. Currently there is (1) active zone of construction on Valley Drive from Amador to Avenida de Mesilla. All traffic on Valley Drive will be placed in the northbound lanes to allow full reconstruction of the southbound lanes. No left hand turns will be allowed. Aspen will remain closed at Valley for completion of utility work. Mcfie on the east side of Valley will be restricted until October 14th. Additionally there will lane restrictions on northbound Valley in these two areas. Construction will be 7 AM to 5 PM, 5 days a week.
NM 15 “Pinos Altos”, Mile Marker 0 to 1.21, Silver City
TLC Construction (Contractor) has finalized roadway reconstruction. All lanes are now open. Please continue to use caution, as Contractor is still present for cleanup.
NM 136 “Pete V Domenici Hwy”, Mile Marker 0.448 to 9.168, Santa Teresa
FNF Construction, INC. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, roadway rehabilitation, bridge rehabilitation, and signalization & lighting along NM 136, Pete V Domenici Intl. Hwy. Traffic will have an 11’ width restriction with only a 2’ median and shoulder. Traffic from milepost 5.25 (north of Airport Rd.) to 9.379(NM/TX Stateline) will be detoured into the southbound lanes for the third phase of construction. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, with the exception of nighttime work beginning Saturday from 3:00 am till 8:00 am; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
NM 498 “Racetrack Drive” Mile Marker 0.600 to 0.900, Sunland Park CN
Hasse Contracting Co., Inc. (Contractor) construction is currently performing removals of existing deck edge to prepare for new Metal Railing installation. NM 498 is closed from Doniphan Drive to Futurity Drive; detour is in place on Sunland Park Drive. Construction is scheduled to be complete by December 2019.
NM 273 “McNutt Road” Mile Marker 0 - 3, Sunland Park
Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) continues with roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, signalization & lighting along NM 273 “McNutt Rd”. Traffic is switched over to the south side of McNutt Rd from 4th Street to Racetrack Dr. Please be aware that the north side of the intersection of McNutt & Sunland Park Dr. will be closed for approximately 2-3 months during construction; public will have access to businesses on the south side. Nighttime operations are now in effect in order to minimize impacts to business. The contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by December 2019.
Chip Seal Projects, Sierra Co:
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Chip Sealing” and “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Socorro Co. Speed limit will be reduced, traffic will encounter no center stripe and there will be loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.
Roadways affected will be:
NM 1 from milepost 47 to 51.1 will have a flagger operation with pilot car.
NM 1 from milepost 25 to 47, has no center stripe and a reduced speed limit, to be fog sealed.
NM 525 milepost 0 to 4.5, Stallion Range, has no center stripe and a reduced speed limit, to be fog sealed.
NM 107 from milepost 0 to 8.1, no center strip and reduced speed limit, to be fog sealed.
SPECIAL EVENT:
The USO Oryx Cycling event will be held October 6th on US 70(Las Cruces) from 8:00 am till 12:30 pm. Cyclists will be utilizing both eastbound and westbound lanes on US 70 from Nasa Rd to San Augustine Pass returning back to Nasa Rd. Please follow event signage and reduce speeds.
Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces:
Arroyo Road
From Red Hawk Golf Road to Sonoma Ranch Blvd will be closed to through traffic. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed and follow detours around the construction zone.
Brownlee Avenue
From Fifth Street to Sixth Street will be open to residential traffic only. Access to residents will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.
Sixth Street
From Hadley to Van Patten will be open to residential traffic only. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.
Downtown Las Cruces
From Bowman Ave. to Las Cruces Ave. has a new traffic pattern. Traffic has been converted to two-way traffic and the change is permanent.
University Avenue
From Triviz to Locust there will be intermittent lane closures. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and proceed with caution.
Court Avenue
From Miranda St. to Armijo St. will be open to residential traffic only. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Motorists will be asked to decrease speed, follow the posted detour routes around the construction zone, and should proceed with caution.
El Paso Projects – Go 10/Border West Expressway
