ALBUQUERQUE – October 8, 2019 – True Health New Mexico will begin offering individual and family health insurance plans for coverage in 2020. Plans will be available for purchase during this annual open enrollment period from November 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019 for an effective date starting on January 1, 2020. The plans will be available both on and off the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange – Be Well New Mexico or healthcare.gov.
“We offer an innovative and patient-centered health management approach that is demonstrably impacting the health and well-being of our members,” said True Health New Mexico President Dr. Mark Epstein. “Knowing that our care model is so effective, it made sense for True Health New Mexico to offer that level of health care support to more New Mexicans by expanding into the individual and family insurance market in 2020. We are thrilled the Office of The Superintendent of Insurance agreed, and we are now approved to offer competitive health insurance plans for individuals and families as well as employer groups beginning in January.”
True Health New Mexico individual and family plan members will have access to the same care model and same wide provider network as members of the employer group plans. The choices include health insurance plans that offer zero-dollar copays for behavioral health services, zero-dollar copays on certain generic drugs for several chronic conditions, state-of-the-art medical management, and a high care-manager-to-patient ratio.

True Health New Mexico entered the New Mexico health insurance market and began offering employer group coverage in January 2018 after the sale of New Mexico Health Connections’ commercial business to Evolent Health. Following the sale, True Health New Mexico continued to support New Mexico Health Connections as its third-party administrator (TPA). As its TPA, True Health New Mexico provided medical management and operational support to New Mexico Health Connections in 2019. The two companies are separate legal and business entities despite the historical evolution of True Health New Mexico from New Mexico Health Connections.
