NMDOT insists drivers respect construction zone

LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office in cooperation with Mountain States Construction, Inc. (Contractor) will be micro surfacing on the US 70 frontage road from milepost 143 (I-10 /US 70 Interchange) to milepost 161 (Organ).

Micro Surfacing is an economical way to extend a roadway surface life before more serious deterioration occurs. It’s a low impact pavement preservation process that addresses surface raveling, minor rutting, and overall appearance.

Tomorrow Thursday, April 20, 2023, crews will begin micro surfacing treatments on the frontage road of US 70 (Bataan Memorial) working between Nasa Rd. going west to Porter Dr.  During these operations motorists can expect single lane closures at a time, drivers may travel to the next intersection to turn around. The contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Starting Monday, April 24, 2023, crews will begin working nights between Mesa Grande Rd to Del Rey Blvd. During these operations motorists can expect single lane closures at a time, drivers may travel to the next intersection to turn around. The contractor’s hours of operation will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Drivers should expect delays and plan accordingly.
