HappyHispanicMonHispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15th to October 15th each year. The observance began as a single week under President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.

Hispanic Heritage Week became Hispanic Heritage Month when President Ronald Reagan expanded the week to a 30-day period and signed it into law in 1988.

President Reagan said in his speech announcing Hispanic Heritage Month, "I fear that too often, in the mad rush of modern American life, some people have not learned the great lesson of our Hispanic heritage: the lesson of family and home and church and community."

We're proud of New Mexico's rich Hispanic culture, traditions, and achievements. In New Mexico, our Hispanic heritage is celebrated not just one month out of the year but all year round!
