EDD updated the resource-rich Toolbox, offers new Spanish language translation
SANTA FE, N.M. – The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has updated its popular resource directory that helps communities with economic development programs and provides businesses with information they need to start, maintain, and expand, Deputy Secretary Jon Clark announced today.
Originally published in 2019, the EDD Toolbox has been a favorite of the department’s regional representatives who use it as a guide for the local businesses and communities that they serve. The publication was so popular that EDD decided to update and publish it annually since.
The Toolbox is separated into two main sections – the first listing EDD programs and divisions and the second which includes other non-EDD resources. Though certainly not comprehensive of all the offerings throughout the state, it is meant to be a guide to help the user find a starting point to begin their search for more information. The Toolbox is only a “tool,” and everyone is encouraged to discuss their needs with their local EDD regional representative who can help them navigate any potential source of training, funding, or other resources.
EDD just published an updated 2024 version of the Toolbox. This version is much more concise. In addition, with the support of EDD’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office (JEDI Office), the Toolbox has been fully translated into Spanish. The Spanish language version, Caja de Herramientas, and the 2024 updated English language version have been posted to the EDD website’s publications page.
“The Toolbox organizes information that helps businesses and communities throughout the state,” Clark said. “We’ve gotten amazing feedback from our folks in the field about how useful this booklet is for their work with constituents, and we are proud to be able to continue to provide this resource as a useful tool for businesses and communities looking for funding or other opportunities.”
The Toolbox, in English and Spanish, is just one of EDD’s efforts to meet some of the priorities outlined in the Strategic Statewide Plan. These include removing barriers to financial resources for entrepreneurs; sustaining an entrepreneur-friendly business environment; and connecting entrepreneurs and innovators to critical industry knowledge and resources.
To better serve their mission and support Spanish-speaking New Mexicans, the JEDI Office is expanding and EDD has now has two fluent Spanish speaking staff to assist callers.
